NEET UG 2026 examination was successfully held by National Testing Agency for a candidate strength of more than 22.79 lakh applicants in 551 centers throughout India. National Eligibilty cum Entrance Test Undergraduate was conducted offline in pen and paper format in a single shift from 2 pm to 5 pm. While most students applying for MBBS and BDS programs felt that paper was easy to solve, Biology portion of exam posed relatively higher difficulty levels when compared to Physics and Chemistry subjects. To ensure that conduct of the examination was seamless, more than 2 lakh staff were on duty, out of which 6,000 were observers and 674 city coordinators.
Students had been instructed to reach their designated NEET UG 2026 test centres between 11:00 am and 1:30 pm, but no one could enter the test centre after 1:30 pm. NEET UG admit card, issued by conducting body on 26th April 2026, was verified by officials at the gate and only those students with a valid hall ticket were permitted inside. The exam took place for a duration of 3 hours and 20 minutes or 200 minutes. The question paper consisted of 200 multiple-choice questions, but students were required to attempt 180 and it comprised a total of 720 marks. The marking scheme was designed such that a student would be awarded 4 marks for every correct answer and -1 marks for each wrong answer.
Exam Level: The entire NEET UG 2026 exam was considered relatively easy and moderate level.
Biology Section: Biology was difficult as compared to other subjects and also lengthy.
Physics Difficulty: Physics was easy as well as formula-based.
Chemistry Difficulty: Chemistry had a great balance between direct and conceptual questions.
Time Management: Time management was an issue for many students as Biology portion was lengthy.
Students' Response: The majority of aspirants were satisfied with their experience during examination.
NEET Answer Keys: Answer keys have been made available by coaching institutes.
Pattern of Question Paper: NEET question paper followed a typical pattern having multiple-choice questions.
Trend of Cut-Off: Experts predict that cut-offs will rise due to easy paper level.
Mode of Exam: NEET 2026 was held offline.
NEET UG answer key for all sets of question papers will be issued by National Testing Agency a few days after the examination. In the beginning, provisional answer key will be issued and this will help aspirants to match their answers and find out their marks. Candidates will also get a chance to raise objections against provisional answer key within a specific time for which they have to pay a specific amount of money per question raised. After considering all the objections received from students, final answer key will be released by NTA and this final answer key will be treated as the ultimate one for preparing results. Along with answer key, response sheet (OMR sheet) will also be published by authority. NEET UG results 2026 will be announced as per final answer key issued.
