The establishment and development of Adjara’s educational system was a Georgian community’s long-standing effort. The issue of opening a Boys ‘ Gymnasium in Batumi was raised in 1893. The city council granted 2 623, 95 sq / m of land to the Boys ‘ Gymnasium on the seaside on June 26-27, 1893. A military engineer Sedelnikov planned the project. The building’s first floor contained a gym, while the second floor included the chapel, assembly hall, eight classrooms, art classroom, study room for physics, laboratory, and library.

The Boys ‘ Gymnasium began to operate in July 1897. On September 26, 1900, the Women’s Gymnasium was also opened. Later, in 1923, a Pedagogical Institute was founded in the building of the former Women’s Gymnasium (now Public School No 2), which later became a Pedagogical College. It used to prepare the teachers for the first stage of school.

In the construction of the Boys ‘ Gymnasium in 1935, the2-year Teachers ‘ Institute was opened with four faculties: Georgian Language and Literature, Physics-Mathematics, History and Natural Sciences-Geography. In 1936, the Faculty of Physical Education was added to this, and in 1938, the Faculty of Russian Language and Literature was added.

The University recognizes its special importance in the development of the region and considers the study of South-West Georgian culture, the biology and ecology of the Black Sea, as well as phytopathological science and the growth of agriculture and tourism as its priority.

  • Bank statement in the father’s or mother’s name (original statement of 6 months with a bank stamp on it with a minimum balance of not less than 4.5 lakh Rs) If account is opened less than 6 months then Bank Manager’s letter specifying when account has been opened.
  • Minimum account balance may be 3.5 Lakh Rs if the account holder is a student.

Admission Eligibility Criteria

The following is the minimum MBBS eligibility criteria for admission of an Indian student at Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University in Georgia:

  • There is no entrance examination in India such as IELTS / SAT, etc. • The student must be 17 years of age plus as of 31 December of the year of admission.
  • The student must be a regular board member of the 12th grade.
  • The student must have an aggregate of at least 50% in Physics, Chemistry and Biology and must have English as a compulsory subject if the student belongs to the General category.
  •  A candidate must have a minimum of 40% in physics, chemistry and biology and must have English as a compulsory subject if the applicant is a student of SC / ST / OBC.
  • You need to clear NEET for admission to any country abroad from 2019 onwards.
